Our new Home!

I have been meaning to update this page more and add some interesting history about the place. We are still searching for more history so here is what we do know. The land was homesteaded in 1882 by Elias Dearborn. The original portion of the house was built in 1885. We aren't sure when and exactly what was added when but we can tell that the kitchen, dining room, back bedroom and bathroom was added on later. We know from looking at the original deed (which is really cool and I will scan it and put it up someday when I figure out how) that the property was then transfered to William Meanes. He must have passed and his wife Mildred remarried and her name became Mildred Hall. There is a cool insription on the kitchen window from her new husband. I can't tell all of what it says. I will post a picture of it soon and maybe you all can email me your thoughts. It went from Mildred Hall to Ben Ordway which is who had it last. If any of you have any other info on the Broken Arrow or when it became the Broken Arrow we would love to hear about it!

The view to the North looking out over the creekbed. The mountains in the background is Tejon land.

The house and one of the barns. The house/property has been vacant for 8 years so we will have our work cut out for us! We plan to run our cattle here also since the land we have been leasing in Tehachapi has sold to a developer. The beautiful land where our first calf was born will soon be a housing tract. Hopefully we are in a location where that will not be possible again.
The creek runs down in front of the house.

Below is the view of part of our ranch from the east ridge.

The arena, round pen, cattle working pens and hangers.

The creek runs right through the middle of the picture and our property.

The Broken Arrow is a work in progress, one day at a time!

This is the creek, yes I said CREEK!!!!!!!!!
So far it has run year round.

Jeremy opening the gate one day.

This is looking to the southeast, in the flat area where Jeremy is on a horse is
where the arena and cattle working pens will be.

At the bottom of the picture is the garage/livery.

This is looking south toward our front gate area. I took it from the same location as the picture above.
Cody is sleeping at the bottom of the picture with the other horses below.
You can see all the dead trees that will need to be cleared away.
More to come!!!
